On Saturday the 6th of May 2023 Charlie launched her Foto-Couture with a fashion show and exhibition at the Huidenclub in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Charlie Koolhaas explores the possibilities of wearable photography with her Foto-Couture. By transferring the streets and surfaces of global cities onto clothes, her images leap out of the frame into daily life where their meaning continues to evolve. A mirrored building in Dubai, a recycling dump in Lagos, or an alleyway in Guangzhou – documentary photographs from Charlie’s recent book City Lust become beautiful and sensual objects that transform the wearer into a living collage and invite us to think critically about fashions relationship to the real world.
