This book brings together Charlie Koolhaas’ photographs of Dubai along with a research text on the city’s art and culture policies by Ahmad Makia. It is published by Brownbook UAE.

Evolving Spaces: Dubai’s emerging cultural districts, attempts to evoke the feel of Dubai and the way it adapts. Charlie’s photographs present an illustrative journey round and through the city by laying bare its many dispositions: as a business hub, an emerging cultural centre, the hidden alleyways, market stalls, confluence of nationalities and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The book was launched at the AIR Gallery as part of their Dubai Futures exhibition and talk series held between 18th and 21st July for Shubbak, a festival celebrating contemporary Arab culture held in London.
